Here's what they have to say about James Poggi Inc....

Homeowner
Complex Remodel
We spent time interviewing lots of contractors to handle our addition, as the project was substantial. From the start, Jim stood out from the rest. Great input at the first walk-through. Comprehensive early phase pricing and top-notch management of the entire work force from start to finish. No, he wasn’t the least expensive. He was simply the best. Promises made by Jim were promises kept.

New Home Construction

At times, Jim’s strict attention to detail drove me crazy. But one of the most important things I learned from him on this project was, ‘It pays to sweat the details.

Jim has great follow-through. During the one-year inspection, he noted things that need to be done, and just took care of them without hassle. Meet with him for just one hour and you’ll know he’s the right one for your job. I’d recommend him any day of the week.

Jim had great ideas in design that no one else had thought of. He was good at anticipating problems. He seemed genuinely interested in our project. He always kept his cool under the most stressful conditions.

Homeowner
Wine Room/Cellar

Having been a wine connoisseur for decades, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted in a large, private wine cellar. Jim took my ideas, expanded on them and delivered a warm and old world feeling space far beyond my expectations. He listened, did his homework and showed me how a quality individual delivers on his word.

Homeowner
Complex Remodel

Jim is particular about his workers being on time because he has a schedule to keep. Even on our 3-month remodel job, Jim stayed on schedule: he did it on time and on budget.

This is kind of silly, but after the remodel, we had Jim come back in to help us change a light bulb in a new fixture because we couldn’t figure it out. Pretty silly — but true! Jim is committed to every detail, and doesn’t just vanish when the job’s over.

What do I appreciate most about Jim? I guess I’d say his integrity. I feel I can trust him. Both my husband and I feel that (trust) is a huge, huge issue. I don’t feel like Jim is ever going to misguide us. To leave your home in somebody’s care...it’s just, uh, it’s almost like leaving your baby with someone. Trust is so important.

Homeowner
Master Bath Remodel

Jim took what was to be a master bath remodel in our home, added across the board life to the Architect’s vision and created a space we truly look forward to walking into each day.

Homeowner
Complex Remodel

Jim seems to know every top craftsperson in the business, and he can recommend someone for just about any type of project you can imagine. And when he recommends someone, you know that the level of trust is already there.

Homeowner
Remodel
As you know, it’s hard to live in the midst of a construction project, so Jim made it as easy as possible for us. He’s real good about taping things off himself, then his guys do even more. The demolition guys were super good at that, in protecting the rest of the house from the dust and mess.”

When we have any question or issue, Jim responds quickly. I’ve noticed, even when he has a heavy work load, he responds quickly, so we always know where he is and when he will be able to resolve the issue.”

I think what we appreciate most is that Jim has a vision of the whole project — from start to finish — and makes it very clear what we can expect of him and the project. And he sticks to it. There were no surprises — except what our own house surprised us with (the dryrot in bath).

Homeowner
Remodel
Because I’m a novice at home remodeling, what I really appreciate about Jim is his integrity and his judgment. I have really relied on him. And he’s been very generous in terms of giving me ideas, or just helping me with little things, giving me options. I don’t ever feel like I’m being bamboozled, or led astray. I really trust Jim’s judgment.

Remodel
My impression is that Jim is a bit higher than some (other contractors) on his quotes. But, to tell you the truth, I don’t think I would have used someone else just to save three or four thousand...it just wouldn’t have been worth it. I think the positive process was well worth it (the extra money).”

Is there anything Jim could improve upon? I can’t think of anything. It was a really good experience. The job got done quickly and...no, I can’t think of anything he could improve upon...

Kitchen Remodel
I think Jim’s biggest strength is his carpentry skill; he’s an amazing carpenter. He’s also an amazing project coordinator. With our kitchen, he was right on his timelines. His subs were great too. Top quality. Very loyal to Jim. I think that makes them more reliable than a lot of other subcontractors. They also picked up after themselves. After our kitchen remodel, we started referring Jim to our friends — lots of them!

Jim’s communication with me was outstanding. I had a note on my counter every night — a progress report. The project management spread sheets were taped up and I could see exactly where we were (at any given time). He was always available by email and by cell phone. I was kept incredibly well informed.
Subcontractor I have a lot of experience interacting with builders and homeowners... and I’ve never seen a situation where a homeowner and builder work so well with each other. He just really likes working with people and he goes out of his way to see that his clients are satisfied. And he does a really, really nice job. He isn’t just someone who talks...he delivers.
Subcontractor I’ve been in this trade for 21 years, and of all the different builders I’ve worked with, Jim’s the best. Jim will always let his contractors know if he doesn’t like something. It has to be perfect, or it’s no go. I’d probably need to go through 100 builders to find another one like him.
